Be Patient

Dec 02, 11 Be Patient

In any relationship or when dealing with people, art of patience is absolutely essential for you to be able to connect and communicate with someone. You cannot expect quick solution, instant results and for the world to change tomorrow. In dealing with mankind, sometimes you will be afflicted and sometimes you will receive good fortune, but no matter what, you must show patience.

Patience in affliction is the act preventing the self from becoming discontented and impatient. Abdullah b. Masud narrated, “I can still recall as if I am seeing Allah’s Messenger quoting a story about one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his blood. While wiping blood from his face, he said, “O Allah! Forgive my people, because they are certainly ignorant.” [Recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

Patience in good fortune is to bind it fast to gratitude, without overstepping the limits or becoming proud and self-important because of good fortune. Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Wonderful is the matter of the believer, all matter turns out to be good for him, and this is not the case with anyone except for a believer.. If good befalls him, he is thankful, and that is good for him. And if misfortune befalls him he is patient and that is better for him.” [Sahih Muslim]
