Means to Path of Purification

Turning to Allah in Supplication

There is no Muslim who supplicates Allah with a supplication that does not contain anything sinful or asks for the ties of kinship to be broken except that Allah gives him one of three things: either He will give him what he asks for soon, or He will delay it for him for the Hereafter, or He will keep a similar evil away from him.
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The supplication of the worried and grieved is, ‘O Allah, Your mercy do I hope for. Do not leave me to rely on myself even for the time of the blinking of an eye. Make all my affairs good. There is no God except You.’”

Beneficial Knowledge

“It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves who have humility towards Allah.” Say: “Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know?” It is those who are endued with understanding that receive admonition.

“Whoever follows a path in order to seek knowledge thereby, Allah will make easy for him, due to it, a path to Paradise. No people gather together in a house of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility is descended upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them and Allah makes mention of them to those in His presence.”

O mankind! There has come to you a direction from your Lord (Quran) and a healing for the diseases in your hearts, and for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy. All that We relate to you of the stories of the messengers, with it We make firm your heart: in them there comes to you the truth as well as an exhortation and a message of remembrance to those who believe.

Contemplation and Reflection

O you who believe! Make remembrance of Allah often and extol Him morning and evening. He it is then Who sends blessing on you, as do His angels, that He may bring you out from the depths of darkness into light: and He is Full of Mercy to the believers.

Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Such are those who remember Allah, standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the wonders of creation in the heavens and the earth, (with the thought): “Our Lord! Not for naught have you created all this! Exalted by You! Give us salvation from the penalty of the Fire.”

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children. In reality, it is like the example of a rain whose resulting plant growth pleases the ungrateful. When it dries, you see it turn yellow, and then it becomes scattered debris. And in the Hereafter is a severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

Righteous Companionship

O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).

And keep your soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not your eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this life; nor obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. Say, “The truth is from your Lord.” Let him who will, believe, and let him who will reject it.

Taking Account of One’s Deeds

The time of their reckoning is getting close while they are in heedlessness, turned away. O you who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what provision he has sent forth for the morrow. Fear Allah, for Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.

All humans continually commit sins. The best of those who continually commit sins are those who repent often. Say: O My servants who have transgressed against their souls, despair not of the mercy of Allah for Allah forgives all sins, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance in the hope that your Lord will remove from you your evil and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow; the Day that Allah will not permit the Prophet and those who believe with him to be humiliated. Their light will run forward before them and by their right hands, while they say, “Our Lord! Perfect our light for us, and grants us forgiveness for You have power over all things.”

And those who having done something to be ashamed of or wronged their own souls earnestly bring Allah to mind and ask forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah? And are never obstinate in persisting knowingly in the wrong they have done. For such the reward in forgives from their Lord, and gardens with rivers flowing underneath, and eternal dwelling. How excellent a recompense for those who work and strive?

Indeed, Allah loves those who repent to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.
